I have been reading a few things about nicotine over the years and I would like to share that with you all and to find
out what you think about it. here follows what I have learned so far: Tar brings the nicotine to the
lungs, the lungs brings the nicotine to the blood stream which it turn brings the nicotine to the brain. It takes approximately
7 seconds for this process to happen. Nicotine's effects on the brain are: -Higher awareness -Faster
thinking -A sense of pleasure -Memory improvement -More energy (by effect to the hormones) -One becomes less
aggressive. Sounds like normal healthy signs, but nicotine is still a drug and mostlikely comes with it's own
negative side effects. It also comes with 4000 chemicals which some or all of them are poisonous. A proper nutrition
and lifestyle brings the same desired positive effects WITHOUT the negative effects. Nicotine is addictive, there
is receptors in the brain "wanting" this nicotine, but past the withdrawal phase, the crave is gone. The hard part
is to get through nicotine withdrawal and the physical, psychological habit. There is drugs blocking those nicotine receptors
to help stop smoking. The numbers of death attributed to cigarette smoking are as high as 10 millions worldwide,
in America, 400,000 smokers died last year (this is more then car accidents, murders and suicides combined together!) and
48,000 non-smokers died from living with smokers (second hand smoke). Doctors are presently making research on
how to use nicotine or a derivative from nicotine for its "good" effects. They say not to take this as a recommendation
to keep or start smoking. They still say to stop smoking. They say that it damages your body in more ways then we can imagine.
Cigarette smoking creates FREE RADICALS in our body, so does stress, pollution and even good moments in our life
("positive stress"). Smoking creates a lot of free radicals. A free radical is an unstable molecule of oxygen seeking
an electron back, it gets it from healthy a molecule from our body, which kills or mutate that molecule. Normally an Oxygen
molecule has 2 electrons, when it looses 1 electron from smoking; it is called a free radical (or an Oxygen molecule with
1 electron). The molecule is unstable and seeks 1 electron back. The way to avoid free radicals is to first stop
smoking. If you are still smoking, or you just stopped smoking, or you have a lot of stress (positive or negative), or that
you are affected by pollution, you can help your body fight against free radicals by getting vitamins and minerals in your
body. You can do so either with specific nutrition or by taking multi vitamins-minerals tablets. The free radicals get their
missing electron from the electron of the vitamins instead of the healthy molecules in the body. Who I am: My
name is Claude Pelletier, in high school I was the president of a non-smoking club, a few years later I started smoking. 3
years later I stopped smoking and I have been smoke free since, I am now 33 years old. I am happy and proud to be a non-smoker.
Still, smoking as a sad effect on my family. My wonderful wife Nicole is unable to stop smoking. Without me knowing it, she
kept on smoking also through her pregnancy, which hurts me a lot to know that my son as already been putted at risks form
the ravaging effects of smoking. My priorities are Health, Honesty and Love. Since 1993 I have been working on a project called
MUUIP to help us live a healthy and happy lifestyle. PLEASE do visit my web page at: Http://www.MUUIP.com And please
do contact me if you have any questions or comments. DISCLOSURE: I am not a doctor, I am a simple individual interested
in health and in the matter of smoking, I am simply sharing my knowledge and hoping to help and learn more by getting feedback.
PS: One of the main disease that comes from smoking is CANCER, just recently I have lost an uncle due to cancer from
smoking. I would like to say that I have read about a therapy against cancer that is very logical to me. Here follows what
I have read: There is 2 groups of genes in our body that regulates the production of cells, one group of genes
tells the body to create MORE cells, the other group of genes tells the body to create LESS cells. When the genes that slows
down the productions of cells are damaged, the body than creates too many cells and these cells have no definite reasons to
be there as of normal cells who are created for example for the skin or the nails etc... These extra-undefined cells are called
"cancerous cells". They are removed from the body with chemotherapy and operations. The source of the problem (the
unbalance of cell production genes) is not being addressed. A doctor has made researches and was able to recreate these genes
slowing down the production of cells. He injects these genes into the body and had had significant positive results with his
therapy. I hope this is helping you to understand this challenge facing us and I hope you will contact me
to discuss further this issue. My last word for today are: let's find a way to be mentally alert and to have
more energy and pleasure.Let's do so in a way that enhance our general health till our lasts days on hearth so we can TRULY
(not under the effect of a drug) enjoy our days while we are here. Let's make something great of our world and for the world
of our children and their children. Thank you for reading my message and tribute to my uncle who recently died from
lung cancer. Claude Pelletier CN.Pelletier@Lycos.com http:www.MUUIP.com
